Team Sky’s Mark Cavendish looks to carry over his current success into this year’s Tour de France. The young rider claimed the first general classification victory of his career earlier in June, winning the Ster ZLM Toer on Sunday by eight seconds over Lars Boom (Rabobank).
Australian Cadel Evans made history last year becoming the first man from his country to win the overall title at the Tour de France. Since his Tour victory, Evans has had a slightly mild season. The difference between his build up to this year’s Tour de France and last years is that the Olympics will quickly follow in 2012. Evan’s 2011 season concluded with the Tour de France victory, where this year he needs to also remain focused for the London Olympic race in August.
Oakley’s Bradley Wiggins is widely considered by most to be a favorite to win this year’s Tour de France, despite the dominance of Australia’s Cadel Evens in 2011. The British cyclist is on fire leading up to this year’s Tour and has already amassed a list of impressive wins this season.
