Terje Haakonsen’s party went off…again. Oakley’s Norwegian Snowboard Legend hosted yet another edition of the Oakley Arctic Challenge this past week in Oslo – putting on a display of some of the best snowboarders on Earth. From Dew Cup Champion Torstein Horgmo, to Winter X Games standout Mark McMorris, to Mikkel Bang, Gjermund Bråten and Jenny Jones, Oakley’s formidable team of rippers was well represented in the picturesque Nordic scenery. Jenny Jones, fresh off a solid podium finish at Winter X 15 in Aspen, grabbed third place in the Women’s Final after a super solid run that featured an impressive front three nosebone. All in all, one happening event at the freezing, yet oh-so-hot TAC 2011.

It was an epic Winter X Games 15 in Aspen late January. On the heels of Oakley Star Torstein Horgmo throwing down the first-ever triple cork in Winter X history to grab the Gold in Big Air, Torstein, along with some of the top riders on the Planet, are colliding in Oslo, Norway…starting today. All for the annual Oakley Arctic Challenge – originally introduced and owned by O Snowboard Legend Terje Håkonsen From Oakley’s young rippers like Mark McMorris and Seb Toutant – to Sage Kotsenburg, who was the first ever to land a cab 1440 double cork in a contest (Air & Style in Innsbruck) – this is sure to be one rockin’ event.

  • Dazzling Season: Torstein Horgmo Runs Away With Dew Cup, Writes Winter X Games History

Torstein Horgmo’s season was nothing short of tantalizing. The coveted Dew Cup was all but wrapped up for him as he mashed into Snowbasin for the Toyota Championships this past week. But it didn’t come without drama. Torstein threw down big time with perfect style on the rail and a cab double 10 to a switch backside 9 on the last two jumps. The performance scored him a 93.75 to grab the third podium spot – enough to grab the first Dew Cup of his career. All on the heels of him busting out a huge triple cork in the Snowboard Big Air Contest at Winter X Games 15, the very first ever landed at Winter X, dazzling the amped up crowd on hand and grabbing the Gold medal.

The coveted Dew Cup was all but wrapped up for Torstein Horgmo as he mashed into Snowbasin for the Toyota Championships. But it didn’t come without drama. Oakley’s Norwegian ripper, who has been killing it all season on the Dew Tour and beyond, needed a fifth place finish or better in the Slope contest to seal the deal. A nice little scare materialized after first round of the contest, as he sat in the 10th position after a shaky landing on a cab 10 double off the second jump. Fellow Oakley Snowboard Ripper Mark McMorris, fresh off some solid performances at Winter X himself, smashed his way to a second place finish at the Slope event.
