Oakley's Juan Jose Haedo Claims Victory At Second Stage of Criterium Du Dauphine
Oakley’s Juan Jose Haedo of Argentina, with a perfectly timed surge, won the second stage of the Criterium du Dauphine Tuesday. Haedo completed the 110-mile stage in 4 hours, 24 minutes, 10 seconds in a bunched sprint finish.
An early, five-man breakaway started about two kilometers from the finish line and Haedo proved the strongest of the field. He defeated Martin Reimer (Cervélo TestTeam) and stage one’s winner Gregor Bole (Lampre-Farnese Vini) who finished second and third, respectively.
“To say the truth, it’s been a great battle,” said Haedo after the stage. “Not only for the last 50 kilometers; my team has done impressive work to lead me out for the sprint. The best thing was to finish the job with a win. I found the space to pass them all. It’s a reward to the team that worked the best.”
