Monte Carlo: Oakley Rally Superstar Sebastien Loeb Claims Monte-Carlo WRC Victory

Tally six Monte-Carlo wins for Sebastien Loeb.

Oakley’s superstar rally car speed demon displayed their affection for the world-famous race, claiming yet another triumph to kick off the 2012 World Rally Championship season in signature style.

It was a clean sweep, with Sebastien and teammate Daniel Elena racking up bonus points by dusting the field in the Power Stage.

Following four days of super intense racing, the final day was the shortest in the history of the Championship Series – with the 18th stage spanning a mere 5.16km between Ste Agnes and Col de la Modone. Sebastien’s car crossed the finish in under 3 minutes, 30 seconds.

The feat earned the two teammates three points in the Drivers’ World Championship.

“I decided to push because these points could make the difference in deciding who wins the title,” Sebastien said, rocking his Oakley eyewear. “Apart from the points, I’m happy to win this rally that means a lot to me. There were a lot of supporters along the roadside and I wanted to win for them. It’s a big gap to second, but I wouldn’t say this was an easy win. We had to deal with all sorts of conditions and my lead was largely built on better tire choices, which were mainly down to the work of Citroën Racing’s technical team and Michelin. We were able to choose between five types of tires and always managed to pick the right ones for the conditions.”

Congratulations to Sebastien on the continued Monte-Carlo domination!
