    If anyone has ever overlooked Ian Poulter, they were just reminded why it’s a dumb idea. Oakley’s British hotshot Golfer stormed back from behind with a killer 10-foot putt to top Luke Donald at the Volvo Match Play Championship at the Finca Cortesin Club in Spain. Down three times in the match, his putt on the penultimate green not only landed him the big victory, but it also prevented Donald from claiming the World No. 1 ranking. As a player who thrives in the pressure cooker and steps up to the plate, Ian’s performance in the last three holes in the quarter-finals – birdying all three – powered him though a two-hole deficit to Francesco Molinari to advance.

    Chris Horner just scored the biggest victory of his career. Oakley’s cyclist bagged the overall victory at the Amgen Tour of California along the Golden State’s coast last week – finishing with an overall time of 23 hours 46 minutes 41 seconds. Fellow Oakley Rider Matthew Goss canned the Stage 8 victory after a sprint finish in the rolling countryside west of Los Angeles.

    2010 French Open Women’s Singles Finalist, Sam Stosur returned to centre court once again to kick-off the tournament as match number one of the second grand slam in 2011. Under near perfect conditions Stosur entered Philippe Chatrier on a mission and accomplished it in just over an hour, by spanking Iveta Benesova 6-2, 6-3.

But make no mistake, up to that point, Sammy displayed just why she’s one of the best on the Planet.

    The Brazilian Bombers just keep on bombing. Oakley’s star Beach Volleyball duo of Juliana Felisberta Silva and Larissa Franca topped Chinese defending Sanya Open champions (and fellow Oakley athletes) Xue Chen/Zhang Xi 2-1 (19-21, 22-20 and 17-15) on Sunday morning in a national televised gold medal match. The grand victory over the ‘home team’ tallied back-to-back titles for the Brazilians on the 2011 FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour. On the heels of a killer win at the Brasilia Open last week, Juliana/Larissa were crowned in the Chinese resort city for the first time and only the second time on Chinese soil – the last coming at the Shanghai Open in 2005.

    Javier Gomez Noya isn’t gonna’ forget this one. Ever. Oakley’s star triathlete emerged with a big victory at the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championship Series in Sydney after charging back from a bike crash during the race. A heavy downpour of rain smashed into the course in the second lap of the elite men’s bike – and from then on it almost became a survival of the fittest, particularly when Gomez went down on his bike. But the reigning ITU World Champion courageously battled back, rode the last 10 kilometers by himself then proved his class even further when he managed to power his way into the leading pack.

    Oakley’s prominence in BASS fishing continues…big time. Exhibit O: The intense “Battle on the Bayou” BASS Tournament near Many, Louisiana, where Oakley Pro Bass Team Angler Dean Rojas emerged with a win after four days of competition on a 186,000-acre reservoir. Rojas’ five fish limit per day of 70 lbs 15 ounces beat fellow Oakley Team Angler Gerald Swindle by a mere 1 ounce. Dean posted wire-to-wire wins on the final Sunday – securing him his fourth overall Bassmaster career victory: With one coming in 2008 on Toledo Bend Reservoir.

    The 2010 FIVB Champions haven’t missed a beat. Oakley’s Beach Volleyball Star Phil Dalhausser (and partner Todd Rogers) picked up right where they left off last season with a crushing season opener victory in Brasilia, topping Brazilians Emanuel Rego and Alison Cerutti, (21-18, 21-13) for the Gold in a mere 35 minutes of finals action. The American pair topped the “home team” on their own turf for the second year in a row, after taking an intense round four showdown that stretched out to three games (16-21, 21-19, 15-11). On the women’s side of the net, Oakley’s Volleyball Star Kerri Walsh and long-time partner in domination Misty May-Treanor appeared together as a pair professionally since 2008 – when both Olympic Gold Medalists took breaks from their careers to start families.
