Thrashing: Washington Capitals’ Alexander Semin Busts Out First Hat Trick of the Season in Win Over Atlanta, NHL Players Rock O Visors

It’s the visor, we tell you. It’s the visor.

Just ask the Washington Capitals’ Alexander Semin, who dished out his first hat trick of the season this past week in a huge 4-3 win over the Atlanta Thrashers.

His fourth career hat trick went down before fellow Cap Tomas Fleischmann netted the overtime winner in a bona fide thriller.

“I was just trying to get my stick on the puck and make sure it winds up in the net,” said Semin, who rocks his Oakley visor every game, every day. “How many times can you try to get around guys? I was just trying not to think about it and just shoot.”

And shoot he did…after he’d been rocking the Thrashers all game long that is. Semin smashed his way onto the scoreboard 38 seconds into the second period after Thrashers netminder Chris Mason’s clearing pass went between the legs of Atlanta defensemen Tobias Enstrom right to Semin. Semin launched a slap shot from the top of the right circle to tie the game at 1.

Then momentum carried the Capitals from there – all the way to a victory…something very familiar to NHL stars across the league that happen to share a common denominator. They’re protected. Big time. By Oakley hockey visors.
