Palm Beach Party: Oakley Star Golfers Tee Up For PGA’s Honda Classic, Rory McIlroy In Pouncing Position for World No. 1

Luke Donald should be quaking in his boots.

The World’s No. 1 ranked golfer is heading into this week’s PGA’s Honda Classic with Oakley’s Superstar, Rory McIlroy, hot on his tail – and in a position to pounce and overtake the top spot.

Coming off a solid, yet somewhat disappointing final at the Accenture Match Play Championship this last weekend (where he fell to Hunter Mahan), Rory is charging into West Palm Beach with a fury. A triumph at the Honda would power him to ‘best on the planet’ status, at long last.

But as always, the ever-elusive position will be far from a walk in the park to attain. Not only would the UK’s Lee Westwood have to not finish in the top two (with O’s Northern Ireland prodigy winning)…Rory and the entire field have an even bigger obstacle to worry about.

The Bear Trap.

The infamous PGA National Course, featuring the treacherous ‘Bear Trap’ of holes between 15 and 17, can literally take any golfer in the field out of their groove.

Despite Rory’s eight top-three finishes in his last 11 starts worldwide, uncertainty is in the air. And a grim weather forecast – with windy conditions rolling in – adds even more uncertainty to the fold.

But make no mistake, Rory is up to the challenge, in his high-tech Oakley golf apparel, shoes and eyewear – preparing to dazzle golf fans worldwide in his quest for the sport’s top distinction. And so are his fellow Oakley golf stars.

Long-time O hotshot, Ricky Barnes, will be smashing into the field with swagger…with his own bad arse Oakley golf apparel, eyewear and shoes, of course.

Finishing solo fourth at the Honda last year, he’s off to his best start to a season with five made cuts in six events – including a solo third at Pebble Beach not long ago.

He’s also ranked T2 in greens in regulation for the week – and is ranked 65th on Tour in GIR and 25th in scrambling. In other words, don’t sleep on Ricky, because he may just come up and shock the star-packed field this week.

Add in the ever-dangerous Ian Poulter and Brendan Steele – and you have Oakley sleepers on the scene preparing for their attack.

No matter where you’ll be watching from this coming week, know that the Big O will be rocking the scene in full effect – with our superstars decked out: from the ultra famous Ellipse Leather Belt, the Oakley ‘Full-Auto Tour’ golf shoes, stretch pants (like the Take Pant 2) to Fast Jacket performance eyewear and everything in between.

Stay tuned in.
