Three: Beach Volleyball Star Kerri Walsh Grabs Third FIVB Gold in Klagenfurt

The dynamic Gold Medal duo is back in form.

Oakley’s two-time defending Olympic Champion Kerri Walsh and her long-time partner Misty May-Treanor smashed their way to their third gold of the season at the FIVB Grand Slam in Klaganfurt, Austria – topping the tough Chinese duo of Xue Chen and Zhang Xi in straight sets (21-14, 26-24).

The triumph marks the two bombers’ 38th World Tour career victory and their fifth title in the Klagenfurt Tournament.

Of course, it was no easy task by any means.

Despite failing to convert five match points – and having to fend off a Chinese set point – the American pair finally put the match away in the second set.

“I never get over the emotion of this place, the fans get you so pumped up it’s hard to keep from getting so excited that you make mistakes,” Kerri said, rocking her Oakley performance swimsuit and Commit eyewear.

The characteristically raucous Austrian crowd helped push the two back in form and on track to 2012.

“Our goal is the 2012 London Olympics and these FIVB Tour events are big steps on the road to London. We always know that these Chinese players will never quit and they are very, very good, but Misty and I were on fire and we just weren’t about to lose.”

With the win, Kerri and May-Treanor are holding at No. 2 in the World, trailing fellow Oakley athletes Larissa Franca and Juliana Silva of Brazil.

Congratulations to Kerri and Misty for the win!
